Even before PSILF started, we were already loving this website that inspired us in our style, in our choice of music and even in life! We were the luckiest to be able to interview them and get to know them. It was so fun to ask them questions and hear their thoughts... Well, we'll cut to the chase, here they are...

Meet our Inspiration: Teen Culture 


1. What inspired you to start up Teen Culture?

What inspired us to start Teen Culture was that fact that we were Teenagers wanting to express and share our style ideas and to help inspire other teens around the world. We wanted to share our experiences in life with others because we understand that someone one might have gone or has gone through the same experiences. Creating a fashion blog and actually inspiring people is what both Aerin and I have always wanted to do, Since 6th grade.

2. The concept of your blog is absolutely amazing. Why is inspiring people the foundation of your blog? Was there any experience that led you to making a difference?
Honestly inspiring people have always been a part of the plan. It so happened to become the foundation of our blog, which to us was very surprising. We are very attracted to encouraging, expressing what’s on our mind and most importantly what’s in our hearts. Inspiring people makes us smile and it helps brighten our day when we receive comments like; I love you Teen culture or I’m total Outcasts with you, and I’m I huge fan and I love you guys. Someone once said that it’s the little things in life that should also make you happy and excited for what’s to come. There are many experiences throughout our lifetime which I believe that really sparked the interested to really encourage inspiring others. From the experiences of being bullied in school, family experiences and overall going through everyday life situations.  


3. Can you please tell us about your personal fashion story? 
This is truly a hard question to answer. Even though we are still developing our ….Style I believe that our fashion story would truly have to be the fact that we both have been through things, life challenges. Growing up I have honestly had many times were my inner self would second guess my style and the way I wanted to dress because I felt not a perfect size, like we see many times in magazines. As time has gone on I honestly believe that the reason why we focus strongly on inspiring and encouraging people is because of this thought of not being what society wanted us to LOOK LIKE! After all the crying alone, I decided to boost my confidence. I promised myself from that day forward that I would be myself completely and that I wouldn't let what society wanted me to be , tailor the way I felt that I should be.


4. We see that you also love music, how does music affect your style? 
Music is something that we can’t go a day without! Everyone has to admit that music tailors the way we feel and our perception towards our everyday lifestyles. When I’m walking around campus listening to Passion Pit- Take a walk the remix by Peking duk and wearing bold eyeliner and combat boots and ripped boyfriend jeans! I feel on top of the world and most importantly confident about what I’m wearing. If I’m listening to zella day- opehlia I wear a flower crown crop top and a kimono with high waisted jeans. So music affects our style every day, no matter what it is Music makes you become any person that you want, its honestly like playing dress up, But with Music! 


5. What are your plans for Teen Culture in the future?
Some plans that have been in development have been a lot of awesome things! We would love for teen culture to have a collection clothing line for the future. Where we will have slogan shirts, flower crowns, wire headbands and much more. We would like to start motivational conferences for teenage girls all around the world. We would love to continue posting more post every week for our viewers. It would be great to fill the entire week with at least two post a day, which would be great and more fun for our outcast.

 

6. What's the best part of having this blog?
The best part about having a blog is that you experience new things all the time! It challenges you to speak what’s on your mind and to reach limits you would of never done before. Teen Culture is much modernized, so the best part out our blog is that we’re always changing and dabbling in new areas. Overall meeting new people with many talents is amazing! Especially with our new team members such as Brittany who is our Beauty director. Brittany has amazing talents in beauty with makeup and skincare and her spirit is so uplifting to be around. Alice our Music and Advice director also has amazing talents from Music playlist, Photography and giving advice to our viewers. With her amazing personality and lifted spirit she makes a perfect fit with the team. Soon we will be adding a new series for Health to the blog and we are excited to introduce Ila to the team.


7. How did this blog affect your style?
I don’t know if having Teen Culture affected our style, but I do know that it’s helped open us up to new things that we might have felt uncomfortable to wear before. Having our blog showed a new direction to expressing our style online. Honestly Its funny because recently every time we buy something were always keeping in mind our readers. Were constantly thinking of taking photos for a haul or a “Top 5 fashion Favorites. Its crazy while being extremely fun!


8. When it comes to the both of you, how do you influence each other when it comes to fashion, music and beauty?
When it comes to both of us I believe that in some ways we do influence each other in all three. Were both inspired by fashion, music and beauty by each other. There would be days when having meetings for Teen Culture, we would totally get out of subject and start talking about our newest obsessions with fashion. Most of the time we agree with each other when it comes to our newest style, music and with beauty. Sometimes we don’t always naturally agree with one another but its okay because that’s what makes a great team, Differences! Honestly we know each other so well, we have been best friends for over five years now and its funny because we have a strong connection when it comes to these things. We honestly believe that the influence that we have on each other really triggered us creating a fashion blog with each other.


9. What's the best thing you've learned through your articles?
Since me and Aerin have our many different perceptions I believe that we learn from each other. So the best thing that I have learned from our articles other than my own have been, starting with one of Aerin’s Article called The Ugly Truth about The Big Bad World. She explains how people in our society should never give up hope on the world around us. We need to keep believing and like she says lighting up rooms and basically changing hearts in this world. So then we can truly call this world beautiful and full of unexpected adventures. What I've learned from another post from our amazing beauty director is about naturally whitening your teeth. I never knew about the ideas that she provides and I was so excited to try these new remedies out.

10. Any advices for bloggers?
 Some Advice that I would like to tell bloggers is really that you should never give up, especially if it’s a dream close to your heart. I really dislike telling people blunt things about blogging, so I’ll be very honest. Make connections with people where ever you go! (Networking) create friendships and really be interested in what they’re doing. Make sure to build a strong team that will believe in your dream and will actually be helpful. Make a goal for your blog and believe and work toward it. Overall Believe in yourself! I mean you have nothing to lose…be consisted and use social media and emailing to your advantage. 


11. Lastly, what would you guys do if $15,000 just appeared in front of you? What are you going to do with it or how would you spend it? 
That’s a lot of money and we would be amazed if this happened because we would not have to worry about not being able to advance for Teen Culture.  Teen Culture website would be completely updated with features for our outcast members to be more interactive. It would be amazing to start a motivational conference to help inspire teens and bloggers, while expressing themselves through fashion. It would be amazing to somehow start a clothing line for Teen Culture and sell things online. Buying advertising spots would be another must have for us! Buying equipment for our team members would be amazing. Lastly creating more branched to Teen Culture to grow and possibly build a empire.

Sian is such an inspiration to us beauty lovers. Not only is she a hardworker but she's a really talented gal! Let's hear her beauty story...

Originally I started my blog as a support or online sketchbook when I was enrolled on Artistic Makeup Design and Special Effects course at a University in England. As part of the course we had to keep journals and as a poor student I couldn't afford to keep replacing ink cartridges so I created the first Makeup Honey blog on Tumblr as a means of keeping track of inspiring images and sharing my own work. 
However my love of makeup started way before my first attempts at blogging. Before studying makeup artistry and moving to Norway, I studied at the Cumbria Institute of the Arts and gained a degree in Fine Art. During my time there my love for makeup was ignited. I was interested in body paint and began experimenting, using my background in Fine Art as a strong influencing factor into my makeup work. Once I left the UK I headed to Norway, to Stavanger which was the European Capitol of Culture at the time. There I worked nights in bars and restaurants and the days as an artist, painting and creating.
I didn't see my work as a body painter and makeup as separate from the art world. I saw the makeup and body painting as art and worked as I had been trained, making sketches, journals, collecting inspirational images, producing trial runs and test pieces before the actual final product and photoshoot. At this point makeup and bodypainting was really just a hobby which I worked on alongside my sculptures and drawings. If I am completely honest, I fell in to makeup as a career by mistake. Being a poor atist working in bars meant I met a lot of other poor artists, some of which were photographers. After doing some test shoots for a photographer friend, I started to get phonecalls asking me to do makeup and body paint for other photographers. 

When the requests for my makeup work started to become regular it was then I decided that I should throw myself into the world of glitter and gloss with full force. I packed up and moved back to the UK and enrolled in an artistic makeup design and special effects course. Since then I have worked as a freelance makeup artist in the UK and Norway, I have had my work published in a number of fashion and photography magazines such as Visuelle Magazine, Flawless Fashion Magazine and Photography Monthly. I produced PR work for shopping malls in Leciester and London, worked on films and music videos, produced looks for shopping websites and more recently I have been working as a product tester and supplying independent brands with photographs, looks and swatches of their products. I have also been represented by Light House Fashion Agency, worked for Toolbox Marketing before deciding to strike out on my own as a freelance artist.
Now I am established as a makeup artist I can spend my free time working on my blog and enjoying makeup as both a hobby and a job. After a long day making a Bride and her Bridal party feel beautiful I come home and unwind by blogging about the day, showing before and after pictures or simply reviewing one of the many, many beauty products I own.

I aim to give honest and fair product reviews, based on my own personal and professional opinions of products. I also love to discover new products and new brands so I would hope that readers come to me to also discover new brands and to recieve only honest opinions on products. If I find a flaw in a product I am not afraid to speak my mind and will always give products a fair chance to prove themselves. I also have the advantage of being a British girl living in Norway which means I have access to twice the amount of drugstore brands as a UK beauty blogger. I can also use my Norwegian language skills to bring Scandinvian brands to the attention of English speaking readers.  
Ontop of being a qualified MUA I am also an OPI certified Nail Technician, qualified to work with lash extensions, air brushing and spray tanning. Many skills have been accumulated by doing short courses, beauty events and product testing. I try to learn as many new skills as possible and try to keep as up to date with the seasons trends as possible.

Hi there!

Let me introduce myself. Im Analesha, 23 years old, live in New Zealand and have an obsession with all things beauty. Growing up the only make up I used was eyeliner as I was overwhelmed with all the products there was out there and the pressure to get it right! Then I became an international flight attendant and it all changed. I was introduced to ‘grooming guidelines’ and regular checks to make sure I had the minimum requirements on each day. So things had to change….fast. I discovered lipsticks that shimmered and glittered, mascara that actually made my eyelashes visible and blush which gave the illusion of a slim face!

From then on in my love for makeup grew, and grew, and grew. My wallet got smaller but my confidence got stronger and my makeup collection got significantly bigger! I decided that I wanted to share my love of these products with likeminded people. I also enjoyed reading blogs so I made the decision to become a beauty blogger and created lipsandbubbles.blogspot.com.

I’ve definitely had good and bad memories with makeup. Struggling with the dreaded ‘orange’ look after applying the wrong foundation to the temperature being so hot your makeup drips of your face. I once walked around all day with the wrong coloured foundation on and it wasn’t until the evening that someone said to me ‘what have you done to your face!’ I wished that the ground could open up and swallow me at that point. I love the feeling of adding a little bit of shimmer to your face weather it’s by blush or bronzer. That makes me feel feminine, powerful and most of all pretty.

Im excited to share my journey with you and my love for beauty.
